“For the Love of Music and Vinyl!”

In winter 1991 Celeste started performing as a dancer with dance music formations as QUAZAR and WARP-9, followed by a long period of touring with the bands and guest performances being a dancer at various clubs through out Europe. Next to her passion for dancing, dance music and performing in nightlife Celeste became a keen collector of vinyl recordings containing all her favorite styles and tunes in Dance Music from Ambient Groovy Lounge to Trancy Minimal Electro Techno. Inspired by various dj’s playing all sorts of different Club and Dance Music, using various techniques to mix styles like: Garage, Hip hop, R&B, Top 40 and Progressive Techno. Celeste began to practize and experiment with turntables and a music mixer. In 1992 Celeste had her very first airplay, she was invited regularly as a guest dj in various programs on Amsterdam local Pirate Radio Station Radio 100. She also made her DJ debut for a clubbing audience at Amsterdam's former famous Club MAZZO†. After this gig that happend on a thurseday night DJ Celeste was soon asked to play her Celestial Night Grooves in various clubs, several private and student parties in the Netherlands, but also abroad in Spain, Turkey, Israël, Indonesia, Portugal and China. DJ Celeste describes her musical taste and record choice as MIDI-SOUL, "I dare to combine a magic Celestial Mix and take a journey with house, soul, funk, latin and disco influences combined with a little bit of techno-trance that touches people’s souls. It’s the art of having sense for feeling, creating and playing with atmosphere in a crowd on a dance floor.”

1993 - working as a PR, Dancer and DJ for various clubs like Boogie-Boogie, Club Alfa and Club Chic in Cala D’Or, Mallorca, Spain.

1994 - First weekly residence at Club Ja, together with DJ Jodee, Amsterdam.

1995 - DJ Celeste began as a worming-up DJ for Top DJ's DIMITRI and CRAZY SHAUN at 'Club 36 op schaal van Richter' in Amsterdam. Attending The School of Audio Engineering, Celeste trained to become a studio engineer. DJ Celeste remixed together with Jaimy the song 'It's not over' by Cases Inc. for the Clubsitute label (CNR). A little later another release came through called 'Arrogance EP' by DJ Celeste on the Soulflow label. The project Two Types with 'The Mother EP' was released on the Spiritual Records label by Outland Records. These records are collectors items nowadays!

1996 - DJ Celeste organizes and hosts her first own night 'Playing the Cards' on Monday's at Club Amnesia in Amsterdam. In august this year DJ Celeste won a Saturday night DJ-ing during 'The week of the DJ' in Amsterdam most famous club RoXY† the 'Puppy DJ Battle'. The same month later she played on the winning Gay Pride truck during the FFWD PARADE (Dutch LoveParade) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. DJ Celeste became a Resident at 'Vip-club' in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Celeste has a short presentation in the form of a reportage during the Amsterdam Dance Event for the program 'Middag Editie' broadcasted by NPS. 1997 - DJ Celeste started organizing a new evening called 'Celestial Night Grooves' every Thursdays at Abraxas in Amsterdam. DJ Celeste was several times guest at TMF (Dutch MTV) in the program 'The DJ's' broadcasted from club Dans Salon in Eindhoven. Also Celeste has been filmed for the program 'Urbania' broadcasted by VPRO TV. In the same year she was invited by the television program 'YOY' to travel to Beijing, China, to make a documentary about Chinese youth culture and explore the nightlife there, and play her music. 1998 - Celeste's 'Celestial Night Grooves' can be heard in an one hour mix, every Sunday night at 'De Nachtclub' on Dutch National Radio 3FM and is a regular heard guest with famous radio dj Giel Beelen also on Radio 3FM. Celeste had a DJ set together with JEFF MILLS at VIP-club in the Amsterdam Paradiso. Twice Celeste was invited to play a warm-up for the concert of worldwide famous band FAITHLESS, this took place at the Paradiso. 2000 - DJ Celeste started dj-ing at 'Kashmir Lounge' in Amsterdam, where she became responsible for the management music policy. For the 75th anniversary from broadcasting facility VARA Celeste was asked to produce all the radio jingles for that special day on 31 October 2000.
